S využitím metody System GMM byly potvrzeny fundamentální faktory neoklasického modelu: statisticky významný pozitivní vliv investic do fyzického kapitálu a negativní dopad růstu populace. This thesis analyzes the determinants of economic growth in 22 countries of the former Eastern Bloc during the period 2002–2021. The main objective is to test the validity of the conditional resource curse hypothesis, which posits that institutional quality moderates the impact of natural resource abundance on prosperity. Using the System GMM method, the fundamental factors of the neoclassical growth model were confirmed: a statistically significant positive effect of investment in physical capital and a negative impact of population growth. The thesis also replicates the specific relationship regarding human capital in short-term panels. However, the resource curse hypothesis was not confirmed, as the interaction between institutional quality and natural resource rents was not found to be statistically significant. The results thus suggest that capital accumulation, rather than variability in institutional quality, is primarily key for the convergence of post-communist countries.
