Vztahy šlechty a měst měly celou řadu odstínů, třebaže – jakožto snad vůbec nejlépe dokumentovaný segment někdejší reality – zvláště v případě královských měst často stojí v popředí 'konflikt'. Studie je zaměřena na rekonstrukci širokého spektra vztahů – šlechtická domovní (i ostatní majetková) držba ve městech, hospodářské kontakty, a postupem doby stále zřetelnější rivality (mimo jiné i návazně na rozvoj sítě poddanských měst), sociální vazby k církevním institucím (kostely, kláštery), stejně jako běžná 'přátelství' i 'nepřátelství', odvíjející se od vzájemné blízkosti, společně sdíleného prostoru i překrývajících se zájmových sfér. Relations between the nobility and the cities had a whole range of nuances, although - as perhaps the best documented segment of former reality - 'conflict' is often at the forefront, especially in the case of royal cities. Present study focuses on the reconstruction of a wide range of relations - noble house (and other property) ownership in the cities, economic contacts, and over time increasingly obvious rivalries (including in connection with the development of a network of serf towns), social ties to church institutions (churches, monasteries), as well as ordinary 'friendships' and 'hostilities', arising from mutual proximity, shared space and overlapping spheres of interest.
