Fetiš a fetišismus od Marxe po Deborda

This thesis proposes a comparison of the concepts of fetish and fetishism in the work of Karl Marx and Guy Debord, tracing their theoretical development from Marx's early writings and across his later work to Debord's détournement. Beginning with Marx's early newspaper articles and with the Pariser Manuskripte, the research outlines the pre-scientific use of the word fetishism as well as the notion of estranged labor and follows the development of both of these toward the more structured notion of commodity fetishism in Das Kapital and the Grundrisse. The analysis isolates two distinct but interrelated dimensions of commodity fetishism (its psycho- logical and non-psychological aspect). It also identifies transitional moments in the young Marx's oeuvre that anticipate later elaborations. The study then turns to Debord's La Société du spectacle and the broader Situationist corpus to examine how fetishism metamorphoses under modern con- ditions of production. Here, fetishism becomes fully realized: it envelops both the commodity- form as well as its images, discourages political intervention, and reinforces social atomization.
