The aim of this work is to analyse the types of the French adverb parallèlement, based on its lexical-semantic and syntactic properties, as well as on its translation equivalents in the Czech- French parallel corpus (InterCorp v16ud). Special attention is paid to the features that determine the semantic shift of this adverb from a purely spatial meaning to a temporal one and, potentially, in the process of grammaticalization (or pragmaticalization), to its use as a connector or discourse marker. The theoretical part of the work places the adverb parallèlement in the context of its morphological, syntactic and semantic properties and formulates hypotheses regarding its semantic and syntactic development and its reflection in French and Czech-French dictionaries. The empirical part of the work is based on the analysis of occurrence of parallèlement in the fictional texts from the InterCorp v16ud corpus (fiction), compared to records from debates in the European Parliament (Europarl). It is assumed that the local and temporal meanings are more frequent in fictional texts, as these primarily consist of narratives, whereas the use of parallèlement as a connector or discourse marker prevails in debates, where the primary function is argumentation and the linking of two ideas that do not necessarily occur... Cílem této práce je analyzovat typy užití francouzského adverbia parallèlement, a to na základě jeho lexikálně-sémantických a syntaktických vlastností a také na základě jeho překladových protějšků v česko-francouzském paralelním korpusu (InterCorp v16ud). Pozornost je věnována zejména rysům, které určují významové posuny tohoto adverbia od významu čistě spaciálního k významu temporálnímu, a příp. v rámci procesu gramatikalizace (pragmatikalizace) k užití jako konektoru nebo diskurzivní částice. Teoretická část práce zasazuje adverbium parallèlement do kontextu jeho morfologických, syntaktických a sémantických vlastností a formuluje hypotézy ohledně sémantického a syntaktického vývoje tohoto adverbia a jeho odrazu ve francouzských a česko-francouzských slovnících. Empirická část práce je založena na analýze výskytů parallèlement v beletristických textech korpusu InterCorp v16ud (fiction), v porovnání se záznamy z debat v Evropském parlamentu (Europarl). Předpokládáme, že místní a časový význam je častější v beletristických textech, jelikož se v těchto textech jedná převážně o příběhy, zatímco užití jako konektoru nebo diskurzivní částice převládá v debatách, jelikož v nich převážně argumentujeme a spojujeme dvě myšlenky, které nemusejí nutně probíhat ve stejném čase a prostoru.
