It aims to commemorate this forgotten photographer, to show her original approach to photography and the difÞcult position of the woman photographer at that time. The thesis outlines the historical circumstances of the Spanish Civil War, but above all it focuses on the photographer herself, who was present, documented everything and perceived reality in a distinctive way that made her equal to her male counterparts, such as the well-known and universally acclaimed photographer Robert Capa, who was also her lifelong friend. It concludes with a comparison of the two photographers mentioned above and explores why it is that Kati Horna's work has been forgotten and Robert Capa's work has become an icon - a visual symbol of the Spanish Civil War.
