Diplomová práce pojednává o koncipování symbolických významů středočeského města Nymburka, se zaměřením na význam městských hradeb. Dochované hradby jsou středověkou připomínkou vzniku města, přičemž až do Sametové revoluce v roce 1989 jim byla věnována pouze minimální pozornost. Práce sleduje proměnu v přístupu městských zastupitelů k tomuto opevnění a následný přínos dochovaných hradeb pro symboliku a propagaci města. The thesis deals with the conceptualization of the symbolic meanings of the Central Bohemian city of Nymburk, focusing on the significance of the city walls. The preserved walls are a medieval reminder of the city's founding, and until the Velvet Revolution in 1989, they received only minimal attention. The thesis traces the change in the approach of city officials to this fortification and the subsequent contribution of the preserved walls to the symbolism and promotion of the city.
