Ve své bakalářské práci se snažím uplatnit oba své studijní obory, biologii a dějepis. Věnuji se rozboru a komparaci dvou pramenů - antické Naturalis Historia od Gaia Plinia Secunda a anonymním středověkým Lékařským knížkám, a to především na příkladu léčivých bylin, jejich využívání a receptů z nich připravovaných a v neposlední řadě se věnuji i životosprávě. Vztahy obou děl doposud sledovány nebyly. Obě se přitom řadí mezi poměrně frekventované spisy antiky a středověku. Svůj záměr jsem konzultovala a zpřesňovala se školitelem Janem Zdichyncem. Obě díla charakterizuji a začlením do kontextu literárních druhů a žánrů v antice a středověku věnujících se botanice, a i kontextu historickému. Vybrala jsem si pět léčivých bylin, které byly v obou pramenech nejvíce zmiňovány a pro mou práci jsou stěžejní, konkrétně jitrocel, pelyněk, sporýš, šalvěj a yzop. Hlavním východiskem mé práce bude vymezení rozdílů v pramenech na základě popisu bylin, surovin, způsobů jejich zpracování a v neposlední řadě porovnání jejich dietetických rad. In my bachelorʼs thesis I try to apply both my fields of study, biology and history. I focus on the analysis and comparison of two sources - the ancient Natural History by Gaius Pliny Secundus and the anonymous medieval Medical Books, mainly on the example of medicinal (healing?) herbs, their use and recipes prepared from them, and last but not least, I am concerned with dietetics. The relationship between the two works has not been investigated so far. Both are among the relatively frequent writings of antiquity and the Middle Ages. I have consulted and refined my intention with my supervisor Jan Zdichynec. I will characterize both works and place them in the context of literary types and genres in antiquity and the Middle Ages devoted to botany, as well as the historical context. I have chosen five medicinal herbs that were most frequently mentioned in both sources and therefore seem to be the most important for my work, namely plantain, wormwood, vervain, sage and hyssop. The main starting point of my work will be to define the differences in the sources based on the description of the herbs, their raw materials, their processing methods, and last but not least, a comparison of their dietary advice.
