This thesis examines the impact of climate change on crop insurance in the Czech Republic and other European countries. It combines a comparative analysis of selected EU countries' insurance systems with an empirical investi- gation of factors influencing Czech farmers' decisions to purchase crop insur- ance. Using farm-level data, the analysis explores the roles of weather variabil- ity, government disaster aid, and participation in agri-environmental schemes. The findings indicate that past experience with extreme weather and depen- dence on state aid have a significant impact on insurance uptake, while recent weather anomalies and participation in environmental schemes have a limited influence. The thesis provides policy-relevant insights into improving insurance uptake and climate resilience in Czech agriculture. Kombinuje komparativní analýzu po- jistných systémů vybraných zemí EU s empirickým šetřením faktorů ovlivňu- jících rozhodování českých zemědělců o nákupu pojištění plodin. Na zák- ladě údajů na úrovni zemědělských podniků analýza zkoumá roli proměnlivosti počasí, státní pomoci při katastrofách a účasti v agroenvironmentálních pro- gramech. Zjištění ukazují, že minulé zkušenosti s extrémním počasím a závis- lost na státní podpoře mají významný vliv na uzavírání pojištění, zatímco nedávné anomálie počasí a účast v environmentálních programech mají vliv omezený. Práce poskytuje relevantní poznatky o zlepšení využívání pojištění a odolnosti vůči klimatu v českém zemědělství.
