S rostoucí lidskou populací roste i poptávka po elektřině, což vede k výstavbě stále většího množství drátů elektrického vedení. Toto vedení ale způsobuje fragmentaci krajiny, případně může vytvářet bariérový efekt, a to především v lesní krajině. V průsecích pod dráty ale zároveň vznikají otevřené biotopy v různé fázi sukcese, které mnohdy z okolní krajiny zmizely v důsledku jejich přetvoření na zemědělskou či jinak hospodářsky užitnou plochu. Společně s těmito biotopy z krajiny mizí i živočichové, kteří jsou na tato místa vázáni. Nicméně právě v průsecích pod dráty může mnoho druhů nacházet refugia, a tak tyto koridory mohou snižovat dopady zániku původních biotopů. Z několika studií vyplývá, že průseky často hostí větší počet ekosystémově významných druhů živočichů vázaných na otevřené travní biotopy, typicky motýly (Lepidoptera) nebo včely (Apoidea), než tyto biotopy samotné. Právě díky těmto výsledkům se otevřené travní biotopy ukázaly být významným typem biotopu pod dráty el. vedení, hlavně pak v krajině, ze které tyto biotopy mizí. V této práci shrnuji dosavadní poznatky o efektu průseků na jednotlivé skupiny živočichů, stejně jako význam některých sekundárních biotopů v koridoru jako takových. Dále popisuji různé typy managementu na odstraňování vegetace v průseku a na závěr poukazuji na... As the human population grows, so does the demand for electricity, which leads to construction of an increasing number of power lines. These power lines, however, cause landscape fragmentation and may create a barrier effect, especially in forests. At the same time, open habitats in different stages of succession are created in the power line corridors, which often disappeared from the surrounding landscape because of their transformation into agricultural or other economically useful areas. Along with these habitats, animals that are specialized for these places are disappearing from the landscape as well. However, many species can find refuge in these power line corridors, and so they can reduce the impacts of the disappearance of original habitats. Several studies have shown that power line clearings often host a greater number of ecosystem-significant species of open grassy habitat-related animals, typically butterflies (Lepidoptera) or bees (Apoidea), than these habitats themselves. Thanks to these results, open grassy habitats have proven to be an important type of habitat under power lines, especially in landscapes from which these habitats are disappearing.
