cze Abstract:
However, some studies also report positive health effects, such as higher levels of vitamin D or a lower risk of prostate cancer. Although the impact of red hair on specific diagnoses has been studied repeatedly, the results have often been inconsistent, and a systematic view of its relationship to overall health has been lacking. The aim of this thesis was to use meta-analysis of questionnaire data to test whether and how red hair affects overall physical and mental health. Latent toxoplasmosis, whose health effects are also ambiguous, was included as a control variable. Data from 11 questionnaires including over 111,000 respondents confirmed that red hair significantlycorrelates witha higher levelof mental health problems in both red-haired men and women. In women, red hair was also associated with poorer overall physical health. The results suggest that the intensity of red hair plays a greater role in red- haired women, but responses to red hair vary across subpopulations. For toxoplasmosis, a negative effect on men's physical health was confirmed. Overall, the results indicate that red hair has a more detrimental impact on...
