Diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem mezi předškolním vzděláváním a školní úspěšností žáků v České republice, a to s důrazem na roli socioekonomického statusu (SES) jako možného moderujícího faktoru. V teoretické části je předškolní vzdělávání nahlíženo jako jeden z významných determinantů školní připravenosti, kognitivního a emočně-sociálního vývoje dítěte. V empirické části jsou sekundárně analyzována data z mezinárodních šetření PIRLS 2016 a TIMSS 2019. Pomocí analýzy kovariance (ANCOVA) je zkoumán vliv délky předškolní docházky a SES na výsledky v oblasti čtenářské gramotnosti, matematiky a přírodovědy. Výsledky ukazují, že hlavní efekt SES byl statisticky významný ve všech třech doménách, přičemž děti z vyššího SES dosahovaly vyšších výkonů. Samostatný efekt délky předškolní docházky byl potvrzen pouze u čtenářské gramotnosti. Interakční efekt mezi délkou MŠ a SES byl významný v matematice a přírodovědě, nikoli však ve čtení. Práce diskutuje výsledky v kontextu nerovností ve vzdělávání a ekologického modelu vývoje dítěte. This thesis examines the relationship between early childhood education and pupils' academic success in the Czech Republic, with a focus on the role of socioeconomic status (SES) as a potential moderating factor. The theoretical part presents preschool education as one of the key determinants of school readiness, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. The empirical part is based on secondary data analysis from the international PIRLS 2016 and TIMSS 2019 surveys. Using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), the study examines the effects of preschool attendance duration and SES on outcomes in reading literacy, mathematics, and science. The results show that the main effect of SES was statistically significant in all three domains, with higher SES children achieving better outcomes. A statistically significant effect of preschool attendance duration was found only in reading literacy. The interaction effect between SES and preschool attendance was significant in mathematics and science, but not in reading. The findings are discussed in the context of educational inequality and Bronfenbrenner's ecological model of child development.
