Cílem práce je porovnat legislativní rámec, vzdělávací systémy a kompetence dentálních hygienistek v České republice a vybraných zemích. Teoretická část shrnuje historický vývoj, současnou legislativu a vzdělávací modely. Empirická část využívá kvalitativní přístup formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů analyzovaných tematickou analýzou. Výsledky ukazují výrazné rozdíly v míře autonomie a rozsahu kompetencí - nejvyšší samostatnost vykazují Finsko a některé státy USA, zatímco Německo setrvává u delegačního modelu. Česká republika a Polsko se nacházejí mezi těmito póly. Studie potvrzuje, že legislativní rámec a kvalita vzdělávání zásadně ovlivňují prestiž a profesní mobilitu, což podtrhuje význam harmonizace minimálních standardů v rámci EU k posílení role dentálních hygienistek a zajištění jednotné úrovně péče. The aim of this thesis is to compare the legislative framework, educational systems, and competences of dental hygienists in the Czech Republic and selected countries. The theoretical part summarizes the historical development, current legislation, and educational models. The empirical part applies a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings reveal significant differences in the level of autonomy and scope of competences - Finland and some U.S. states demonstrate the highest degree of independence, while Germany maintains a delegation-based model. The Czech Republic and Poland occupy an intermediate position. The study confirms that the legislative framework and quality of education fundamentally influence professional prestige and mobility, highlighting the importance of harmonizing minimum standards within the EU to strengthen the role of dental hygienists and ensure a consistent level of care.
