The aim of this thesis is to provide a detailed analysis of accelerationism, particularly as presented by the authors of CCRU, and to show through the texts of Nick Land how the reformulation of desire, understood in accelerationism as a fundamental metaphysical principle, shapes the concept of human existence among machines and, consequently, the concept of the apocalypse. The thesis argues that Land's inhumanism - closely linked to the question of accelerationist singularity - is the main characteristic feature of the narrowly understood accelerationist project. This project is largely shaped by three fundamental influences: Land's dialogue with transcendental metaphysics as presented by Immanuel Kant; the incorporation of science fiction into the philosophical project (particularly through the work of Mark Fisher); and the accelerationist reformulation of Prometheanism and the potential impact this reformulation has on the perceived discord between man and machine. As for the fundamental concept of desire, this work offers a genealogy of desire, tracing its roots in the works of Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari, Friedrich Nietzsche, and ultimately in Augustine's understanding of human will, as interpreted by Marshall Sahlins.
