This bachelor's thesis will discuss Anne's journey to self-acceptance in the coming-of-age story Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The theoretical part explores the historical background of the early 20th century and conventional expectations for females as well as the psychological concept of self-esteem in young girls. In the practical part, the focus is on Anne's development throughout the novel, highlighting her evolution from self-rejection to acceptance. Teoretická část přibližuje historické pozadí na počátku 20. století s důrazem na společenská očekávání vůči ženám a zároveň se zabývá konceptem sebeúcty u dospívajících dívek. V praktické části je pozornost zaměřena na vývoj hlavní hrdinky v průběhu románu a na její cestu od pocitu odmítání ke konečnému přijetí sebe sama.
