Preference pohlaví dítěte v Estonsku, Česku a Finsku Abstrakt Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem preference pohlaví dětí a jejím vlivem na reprodukční chování ve vybraných evropských zemích - Česku, Estonsku a Finsku. Vychází z konceptu, že preference pohlaví se mohou projevovat nejen v přáních rodičů, ale také v jejich rozhodování o načasování a pokračování plodnosti. Teoretická část mapuje dosavadní výzkumy na evropské úrovni i v národních kontextech, přičemž zohledňuje kulturní, historické a institucionální rozdíly mezi jednotlivými zeměmi. V empirické části jsou využita data z mezinárodního dotazníkového šetření Generations and Gender Survey, přičemž analýza se opírá o metody binární logistické regrese a Kaplan-Meierovy analýzy přežití. Výsledky ukazují rozdíly mezi zeměmi i mezi jednotlivými fázemi reprodukční dráhy. Při přechodu k druhému dítěti se preference pohlaví prakticky neprojevují, zejména ve Finsku, kde nebyl zjištěn žádný vliv pohlaví prvního dítěte na pravděpodobnost dalšího porodu. Podobný vývoj byl pozorován i v Česku a Estonsku, což potvrzuje převládající genderovou indiferenci na této úrovni. Naopak při přechodu k třetímu dítěti se napříč všemi třemi zeměmi projevuje jasná preference pohlavní diverzity. Rodiče se dvěma dětmi stejného pohlaví mají výrazně vyšší šanci mít třetí dítě... Child Sex Preference in Estonia, Czechia and Finland Abstract This bachelor thesis examines the issue of child sex preference and its influence on reproductive behavior in three European countries - the Czech Republic, Estonia, and Finland. It builds on the assumption that sex preference may manifest not only in parental attitudes but also in decisions regarding fertility timing and continuation. The theoretical section provides an overview of existing research at both the European and national levels, taking into account cultural, historical, and institutional differences between countries. The empirical analysis uses data from the Generations and Gender Survey and applies binary logistic regression and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. The results reveal both cross-country differences and distinctions between different stages of the reproductive trajectory. When transitioning to a second child, sex preference appears to play no significant role, particularly in Finland, where no effect of the first child's sex on the likelihood of having another child was observed. A similar pattern was found in the Czech Republic and Estonia, suggesting a prevailing gender indifference at this stage of parenthood.
