Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na soukromý život anglické královny Alžběty I. a zkoumá vliv jejích osobních rozhodnutí na její panovnickou roli a vnímání její osoby ze strany soudobé společnosti i pozdější historiografie. Práce se věnuje zejména tématu panenství, vztahům s muži, spekulacím o sexualitě a rozhodnutí nevstoupit do manželství. Zabývá se rovněž Alžbětiným každodenním životem, jejím psychickým i fyzickým stavem, pojetím vlastní identity a vlivem traumat z dětství. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována jejím vztahům s Robertem Dudleym a Františkem z Anjou. Práce zároveň nabízí srovnání s jinými panovnicemi - Marií Stuartovnou, Kateřinou Medicejskou a královnou Viktorií - a věnuje se i závěru Alžbětina života a proměnám jejího obrazu v pozdějších staletích. Cílem je představit Alžbětu jako komplexní osobnost, která nejen že si udržela politickou moc a nezávislost, ale zároveň výrazně ovlivnila dějiny Anglie, a přispěla tak k hlubšímu porozumění postavení žen v 16. století. This bachelor's thesis focuses on the private life of Queen Elizabeth I of England and explores how her personal choices influenced her role as a monarch and shaped public and historical perceptions of her. The main focus lies on the theme of virginity, her relationships with men, speculations about her sexuality, and her decision not to marry. The thesis also examines Elizabeth's daily life, physical and mental health, identity construction, and the impact of childhood trauma. Particular attention is paid to her relationships with Robert Dudley and Francis of Anjou, which were often driven more by political strategy than emotional connection. The thesis further offers a comparison with other female rulers - Mary, Queen of Scots, Catherine de Medici, and Queen Victoria - and considers the end of Elizabeth's life as well as the transformation of her image in later centuries. The aim is to present Elizabeth as a complex historical figure who not only managed to maintain power and independence, but also significantly influenced the course of English history, and to contribute to a better understanding of women's roles in the 16th century.
