cze Abstract:
This thesis examines the critical week in late May 1992 between the initial outburst of violence and its instrumentalization in the Bosnian municipality of Prijedor as part of the broader conflict of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s. Through micro-historical analysis and the application of Max Bergholz's theoretical concept of the spiral of violence, the aim of this thesis is to identify the triggers of the local conflict and to reconstruct the individual acts of violence and their retaliatory counteractions. In doing so, the thesis traces a causal chain of events and demonstrates the constant escalation of conflict, with each successive action being more violent than the previous one. The primary research material consists of witness testimonies before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, supplemented by documents, maps and other sources collected during the legal proceedings, as well as sources obtained through the author's own archival research. The thesis secondarily tests the limits of Bergholz's methodological and theoretical apparatus when applied to a geographically larger territorial unit. The results of the thesis contribute to a deeper understanding of the logic of violence in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the broader debate on the...
