Tato diplomová práce zkoumá koncept resentimentu a jeho ambivalentní roli vpopulistické politice prostřednictvím teoretické analýzy a dvou empirických případových studií. Práce nejprve rozpracovává genealogii pojmu resentiment, od jeho konceptualizace v dílech Adama Smithe, Josepha Butlera a Davida Huma, přes negativní pojetí u Friedricha Nietzscheho aMaxe Schelera, až po současné teoretické přístupy. Následně analyzuje vztah meziresentimentemapopulismem,přičemžpopulismuschápejakopolitickoulogiku(Laclau) apolitický styl (Moffitt), který aktivně konstruuje, mobilizuje a instrumentalizuje tuto emoci. V empirické části práce ukáže rozdílné formy resentimentu na dvou historických příkladech: nástupu hnutí MAGA ve Spojených státech jako ukázce instrumentalizace resentimentu spojované s hledáním viníků a konstrukcí nepřátelských obrazů, aprotiválečném hnutí proti válce ve Vietnamu jako příkladu aspirativního resentimentu, který odhaluje systémové nespravedlnosti a přispívá klegitimní kritice neférových společenských pořádků. Práce tak tematizuje ambivalentní povahu resentimentu jako emoce, která může být jak destruktivní silouvpopulistickýchprojektech,takkonstruktivnímnástrojemdemokratickémobilizace. Klíčováslova:resentiment,populismus,FriedrichNietzsche,emocevpolitice This thesis explores the concept of ressentiment and its ambivalent role in populist politics through theoretical analysis and two empirical case studies.It first elaborates the genealogy of the concept, tracing its development from early conceptualizations in the works of Adam Smith, Joseph Butler, and David Hume, through its negative framing by Friedrich Nietzsche and Max Scheler, to contemporary theoretical approaches.The thesis then analyzes the relationship between ressentiment and populism, understanding populism both as a political logic (Laclau)and a political style (Moffitt)that actively constructs, mobilizes, and instrumentalizes this emotion.In the empirical section, the thesis demonstrates the differing forms of ressentiment in two historical cases:the rise of the MAGA movement in the United States as an example of the instrumentalization of ressentiment linked to scapegoating and the construction of enemy images, and the anti- Vietnam War movement as an instance of aspirational ressentiment, which exposes systemic injustices and contributes to legitimate critiques of unfair social orders.In doing so, the thesis highlights the ambivalent nature of ressentiment as an emotion that can serve both as a destructive force in populist projects and a constructive tool of democratic...
