Tato diplomová práce se zabývá proměnou genderové a rasové reprezentace ve filmech společnosti Walt Disney, konkrétně ve vztahu klasických animovaných pohádek a jejich nově vzniklými hranými adaptacemi. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem Disney ve svých novějších verzích reflektuje měnící se společenské normy, důraz na inkluzi a korektnost, a jak tyto změny ovlivňují vyprávění i vizuální podobu příběhů. K naplnění tohoto cíle byla zvolena kvalitativní tematická analýza, která byla aplikována na dvě dvojice filmů - Sněhurka a sedm trpaslíků (1937) a její hraná adaptace z roku 2025, a Malá mořská víla (1989) s její hranou verzí z roku 2023. Tematická analýza identifikovala klíčové motivy, způsoby reprezentace postav a narativní struktury, které byly následně podrobeny komparativnímu srovnání. Výsledky ukazují výrazný posun směrem k emancipovanějším a komplexnějším ženským postavám. Mužští protagonisté již nejsou vykreslováni pouze jako zachránci, ale dostávají hlubší charakterové zakotvení. Zároveň dochází k větší rasové inkluzi, přestože některé změny zůstávají nekonzistentní a často narážejí na odpor části veřejnosti. Adaptace přetvářejí známé příběhy, ale také aktivně vstupují do současného kulturního diskurzu a přispívají k redefinici hodnot, které tyto příběhy původně předávaly. This thesis explores the transformation of gender and racial representation in films produced by the Walt Disney Company, specifically focusing on the relationship between classic animated fairy tales and their recent live-action adaptations. The main aim of the thesis is to determine how Disney's newer versions reflect shifting societal norms, the growing emphasis on inclusivity and political correctness, and how these changes influence both the narrative and visual aspects of the stories. To achieve this goal, a qualitative thematic analysis was conducted on two pairs of films - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and its live-action adaptation from 2025, and The Little Mermaid (1989) alongside its 2023 live-action version. The thematic analysis identified key motifs, methods of character representation, and narrative structures, which were subsequently subjected to comparative evaluation. The findings reveal a significant shift towards more emancipated and complex female characters. Male protagonists are no longer portrayed solely as saviours but are given deeper emotional development and character depth.
