cze Abstract:
[cze][eng] Tato práce validuje predikci výšky základny oblačnosti numerického předpovědního modelu ALADIN, což je značně důležitá veličina v meteorologii a v letectví. This thesis validates the forecast of cloud base height by the numerical weather predic- tion model ALADIN, which is a highly important parameter in both meteorology and avi- ation. Current numerical models are unable to fully resolve cloudiness; therefore, it must be parameterized using empirical relationships. The thesis describes the cloudiness pa- rameterization scheme employed in the ALADIN model, which is based on the study by Xu and Randall. It also explains the principle of instruments used to measure cloud base height, known as ceilometers, and specifies their use at professional stations opera- ted by ČHMÚ. The model forecasts are evaluated using categorical validation, corre- lation analysis, and prediction error analysis. The forecasts were compared either di- rectly with ceilometer measurements or with data from METAR reports. The results show that the model exhibits relatively good predictive skill; however, with the current parameterization settings, it systematically underestimates the cloud base height.
