Abstract: The paper is a continuation of the previous study on the origin of self-excited vibration and squealing noise on a simple system consisting of two 2DOF subsystems connected by a dry frictional contact model. The results showed that the instability occurs for a certain relationship between the contact stiffness and the excitation level, and occurs when a stick-slip condition in the contact appears. In this paper, we focused on investigating what role the decreasing frictional force characteristic plays on the instability.
