Předkládaná práce tematizuje roli korunovačních klenotů ve společnostech Českého a Skotského království 16. a 17. století. Korunovační klenoty byly důležitým symbolem a prostředkem komunikace předmoderních evropských společností. Zvolený metodologický rámec zohledňuje nejen hodnotu koruny, žezla a meče jakožto zprostředkovatelů symbolické komunikace v ritualizovaných prostorech korunovací, ale také mimorituální utilizaci obrazu regálií v politickém myšlení, respektive imaginaci a nakládání s klenoty jakožto fyzickými předměty. Práce tak integruje množství v dosavadní vědecké produkci separátně zkoumaných jevů, která se oborově řadí na do obecné historie, dějin politického myšlení a historické a kulturní antropologie, nicméně přináší vlastní poznatky a závěry založené na pramenném výzkumu. Práce může být čtena jako dvě samostatná pojednání o českých a následně skotských korunovačních klenotech, nicméně její ambice spočívají i v komparativní a syntetizující perspektivě. Na tématech vztahu mezi panovníkem a poddanými, významu korunovačních rituálů, náboženských proměn či legitimizace povstání a rebelií, která představovala nejvýznamnější problémy raně novověké Evropy, ukazuje odlišné přístupy, které i přes sdílený kulturní kánon obyvatelé českých zemí a Skotska volili vůči korunovačním klenotům. Mezi... The aim of this thesis is to analyse the role of crown jewels in the societies of the Kingdoms of Bohemia and Scotland in the 16th and 17th centuries. The crown jewels were important symbols and means of communication in premodern European societies. Yet, previous research concerning this issue has mostly focused on the role of the regalia in royal coronations. The methodology chosen for this thesis tries to expand the possible inquiry with regard not only for the role of crown, sceptre and sword as means of symbolic communication in ritual spaces but also takes into account the place of the metaphorical images of these jewels in contemporary political imagination and the extraritual custody thereof. Thus, the thesis presents a multidisciplinary approach borrowing not solely from the fields of general history, history of political thought and cultural anthropology and among the contemporary findings in these areas delivers its own conclusions based on primary sources research. The thesis may be read as a separate elaboration upon the topics of Bohemian and Scottish regalia, but it also has the ambition to offer a comparative and synthesizing perspective on the matter.
