Raunkiaerovy životní formy dělí rostliny na základě polohy jejich obnovovacích meristémů vzhledem k povrchu půdy. Rozšíření životních forem na Zemi se proto liší podél zeměpisné šířky v souvislosti s odlišnými klimatickými podmínkami od rovníku k pólům. Tento trend v jejich zastoupení napříč různými ekosystémy na Zemi se ale vztahuje převážně na nížinné oblasti, kterým se mnohými způsoby (teplota, tlak, srážky) vysokohorské prostředí vymyká. Cílem této práce je shrnout dostupné informace o alpínském prostředí napříč klimatickými pásy a na jejich základě vyhodnotit, zda zde existuje obdobný trend rozšíření životních forem. Práce se zabývá alpínským prostředím podél gradientu zeměpisné šířky, mezi konkrétní zkoumané oblasti patří Kanadské skalisté hory, Kavkaz, Zagros, tropické Andy a Havajské souostroví. Na základě revidované literatury je možné konstatovat, že hemikryptofyty se téměř uniformě vyskytují v alpínech napříč klimatickými pásy, všudypřítomné jsou pak chamaefyty. Doplňujícími životními formami alpínských společenstev rostlin jsou geofyty a v tropických velehorách také fanerofyty. The distribution of life forms on Earth varies with latitude from the Equator to the poles, determined by the different climatic conditions. The pattern of distribution of the life forms across various ecosystems on Earth mainly applies to lowlands, however. The alpine environment differs from the lowlands in many ways (temperature, pressure, precipitation). The aim of this thesis is to summarize the available information on the alpine environments across climatic zones and examine whether the life form distribution patterns observed in the lowlands can be found in the alpine habitats above the treeline. The thesis examines alpine environments of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the Caucasus, the Zagros Mountain Range, the tropical Andes, and the Hawaiian archipelago. Based on the reviewed literature we conclude that hemicryptophytes dominate almost all of the examined alpine habitats across the climatic zones. Chamaephytes are also a very common alpine life form, geophytes and phanerophytes can be found in specific alpine habitats, although the latter only in the tropical mountains.
