In recent years, Czechia has experienced rising food prices that have generated a significant public debate. This thesis aims to achieve two main objectives. First, it examines food inflation using Eurostat price indices. Through simple analysis, we evaluate the evolution of food prices in Czechia relative to other EU countries and analyse the variability of prices between individual food cat- egories. We find that the food price level approaches the EU average and that comparable countries have rather lower prices. In addition, we show that after a dramatic price surge, the inflation in Czechia stabilised, saw a correction, and cumulatively was not so high as in comparable countries. Second, this thesis explores the concentration levels in different sectors of the Czech agri-food industry using the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index and the Concentration Ratio metrics. The findings confirm agriculture as the least concentrated sector, with processing, wholesale, and retail exhibiting higher levels of concentration. Additionally, the influence of the ownership structure is discussed and evaluated. This research contributes to the understanding of Czechia's food price dy- namics and supply chain structure, offering valuable insights for an informed debate about food prices and the agri-food industry. JEL... V posledních letech Česká republika zažívá výrazný růst cen potravin, který vyvolal značnou veřejnou debatu. Tato práce sleduje dva hlavní cíle. Prvním je analýza potravinové inflace s využitím cenových indexů Eurostatu. Pomocí jednoduché analýzy hodnotí vývoj cen potravin v České republice ve srovnání s ostatními zeměmi EU a zkoumá variabilitu cen mezi jednotlivými kategoriemi potravin. Zjištění ukazují, že cenová hladina potravin v České republice se blíží průměru EU, přičemž srovnatelné země mají spíše nižší ceny. Analýza dále ukazuje, že po dramatickém nárůstu se inflace v České republice stabilizovala, prošla korekcí a kumulativně nebyla tak vysoká jako ve srovnatelých zemích. Druhým cílem této práce je zkoumání míry tržní koncentrace v různých sek- torech českého agro-potravinářského průmyslu pomocí Herfindahl-Hirschman indexu a ukazatele tržní koncetrace. Výsledky potvrzují, že zemědělství je ne- jméně koncentrovaným sektorem, zatímco zpracování, velkoobchod a maloob- chod vykazují vyšší úroveň tržní koncentrace. Rovněž je diskutován a hodnocen vliv vlastnické struktury v jednotlivých sektorech.
