This thesis addresses the issue of particle deposition in the field of radial turbochargers, which are key components of forced induction systems in internal combustion engines. Due to the return of exhaust gases through the EGR system and the presence of oil aerosols from crankcase ventilation, particles can enter the intake side of the engine and reach the compressor wheel. These particles tend to accumulate on blade surfaces, in the diffuser, and in the volute, which negatively affects compressor efficiency, performance, and durability. The work focuses on identifying deposition mechanisms, their consequences, and preventive measures. A substantial part is dedicated to CFD analysis, which uses numerical simulations of airflow and particle motion to evaluate the influence of particle size and compressor geometry on the location and extent of deposition. The results provide insight into particle accumulation patterns and their dependence on flow conditions and geometry, serving as a basis for future optimization and design improvements.
