Tématem bakalářské práce je genocida ve Rwandě, která proběhla v roce 1994. Konflikt, který se ve Rwandě na konci minulého tisíciletí odehrál, patří mezi největší genocidy 20. století. Předmětem výzkumu jsou mezinárodní postoje vybraných zemí k situaci ve Rwandě tehdy, a jak se za uplynulé tři dekády proměnily nebo zda zůstaly stejné. Kromě postojů jednotlivých zemí ke genocidě je v práci popsána mírová mise OSN UNAMIR, která v průběhu genocidy působila na území Rwandy. Vybranými zeměmi jsou Spojené státy americké, Francie, Belgie, Spojené království a Česko. Zmiňované země určitým způsobem v průběhu historie anebo přímo během genocidy nepřímo ovlivnily, co se ve Rwandě odehrálo. Na základě rešerše literatury, odborných a mediálních sdělení a televizního zpravodajství je vysvětlen historicko-politický kontext proměn území a obyvatelstva Rwandy a přiblíženy příčiny genocidy. Dále je popsán její samotný průběh, zejména pak jaký vliv měl na zdejší obyvatelstvo. Následně jsou zde charakterizovány postoje vybraných zemí, a současně jsou hodnoceny postoje zemí ke genocidě a jejich proměny v uplynulých třech dekádách. The conflict that unfolded in Rwanda at the end of last millennium ranks among the largest genocides of the 20th century. The subject of this research is the international stances of selected countries toward the situation in Rwanda at that time, and how they have changed or whether they have remained the same over the past three decades. In addition to the attitudes of individual countries toward the genocide, the thesis also describes the UN peacekeeping mission UNAMIR, which was active in Rwanda during the genocide. The selected countries are the United States of America, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the Czechia. These countries, in various ways throughout history or directly during the genocide, indirectly influenced the events that took place in Rwanda. Based on a review of literature, expert and media reports, and television news coverage, the historical and political context of changes in Rwanda's territory and population is explained, and the causes of the genocide are outlined. The course of the genocide itself is then described, particularly the impact it had on the local population.
