Konvenční zemědělský systém je neudržitelný a přispívá ekologické degradaci. V této práci jsou identifikovány následující problémy: degradace půdy, eutrofizace, narušení vodního režimu, ztráta biodiverzity, narušení potravních sítí, toxicita a kontaminace agrochemikálií, závislost konvenčního zemědělství na fosilních palivech a emise skleníkových plynů. V kontextu zintenzivnění klimatické změny, vymírání druhů a krize vyčerpání fosilních paliv je nutné tento systém transformovat tak, aby mohla zemědělská výroba udržitelně pokračovat. V reakci na tyto problémy bylo vyvinuto mnoho nauk spadajících do široké kategorie ekologického zemědělství a rovněž znovuobjeveno či integrováno mnoho tradičních metod zemědělství, které mohou různé aspekty tohoto problému řešit. V této práci se věnuji následujícím: organické/bio zemědělství, ochranářské a bezorebné zemědělství, ochranářská pastva, polykultury, permakultura, různé formy agrolesnictví, ekologické lesnictví a lesní pastva, pařezinové hospodářství a moderní intenzivní metody kultivace potravin bez použití půdy. V této práci shrnuji jejich potenciál řešit problémy zemědělství v jeho současné neudržitelné formě. The conventional agricultural system is unsustainable and contributes to ecological degradation. This paper identifies the following key issues: soil degradation, eutrophication, disruption of the water cycle, loss of biodiversity, disturbance of food webs, toxicity and contamination from agrochemicals, conventional agriculture's dependence on fossil fuels, and greenhouse gas emissions. In the context of intensifying climate change, biodiversity loss and the impending depletion of fossil fuels, this system must be transformed in order to ensure agricultural production can sustainably continue. In response to these challenges, numerous approaches within the broad category of ecological agriculture have been developed, and many traditional farming methods have been rediscovered or integrated to address different aspects of these problems. These include: organic/bio farming, conservation and no-till agriculture, regenerative grazing, polyculture farming, permaculture, various forms of agroforestry, ecological forestry and silvopasture, coppicing, and modern soilless intensive food cultivation methods.
