V předložené disertační práci jsou prezentovány vybrané problémy spjaté s návrhem, optimalizací a vývojem. Předmětem zájmu jsou konstrukce, u kterých kabel plní hlavní nosnou funkci (visuté konstrukce a předpjaté pásy), anebo funkci stabilizační (obloukové konstrukce).
Cable-supported structures enable the design of efficient and statically clear structures. Their development is aligned with the development of civil engineering and the design itself provides a series of engineering problems to be addressed. In the thesis chosen problems related to design, optimization and development are presented. The thesis is focused on structures where cable has either the bearing function (suspended structures and stress ribbon structures) or a stabilizing function (arch structures). The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on design optimization of stress ribbon structures through the optimal geometry of the external prestressing cables. The behaviour of the structure in the static study is examined also in terms of the dynamic response of the structure. The experimental part of the thesis is focused on suspension structures assembled from precast segments, which are commonly used in cases where a self-anchored system is not designed. The concrete joints are regions of discontinuities and their design is critical for the durability in service life of the structure. In this thesis, the results from the several numerical analyses of the joints were compared with the results obtained from experimental measurements. The results of the analysis can be further used in the design of suspension structures and stress ribbon structures. The last part of the thesis deals with the design of the directly walkable arch, which together with the external prestressing tendons forms a self-anchored system. External prestressing tendons are situated under the bridge deck. Directly walkable arches can be designed only in good geological conditions and within certain spans due to significant horizontal forces. Horizontal reactions can be considerably reduced by external prestressing cables. In this thesis, a parametric study of cable arrangement is presented, leading to design of an innovative self-anchored arch structure. The hypotheses for design of chosen structure were verified by a model test respecting the model analogy principles.
