This master thesis deals with the possibilities of using neural networks for the detection of fault conditions of an air-to-water heat pump that has been installed to a family house. The research involved data collection over a period of three months, during which selected operating parameters were recorded both during normal operation and during simulated faults. Neural networks - autoencoders for anomaly detection, RNN and transformer for identification of specific faults were tested on the prepared data. Better fault identification was achieved by the transformer: covered evaporator fault (99.6 vs. 30.7 %), fan disconnection fault (100.0 vs. 93.8 %), changed superheat fault (99.2 vs. 70.0 %). However, despite this, RNNs showed a lower percentage of false alarms (0.59 vs. 1.4 %). The results obtained demonstrated the potential of using neural networks to identify heat pump faults.
