This bachelor's thesis deals with the influence of scandium as an intermediary element on the mutual solubility of magnesium and titanium. The theoretical part presents basic information about the metals used, a description of their binary combinations, issues related to high entropy alloys, information on powder metallurgy, and the latest developments in the MgScTi alloys and Mg-based high entropy alloys. The experimental part focused on the preparation of binary combinations of magnesium, scandium, and titanium to verify their behavior, as well as on the preparation of the ternary MgScTi system with the aim of stabilizing the low-temperature phase. The maximum temperature in this step was 1050°C, followed by a secondary thermal step at 450°C for 5 hours. A procedure for vapor alloying combined with water bath cooling is also described, aimed at stabilizing the high-temperature phase. Vapor alloying with supercooling proved to be the most suitable method. Another finding was the importance of scandium presence for the mutual solubility of magnesium and titanium. The supercooled vapor-alloyed sample exhibited a grain structure primarily composed of titanium alloyed with scandium, with a shell of variable ternary composition. The ternary MgScTi system has not yet been described in the literature.
