Surface modifications represent an interesting way to influence the flow around a hydraulic profile. This flow significantly depends on the nature of the boundary layer, which these surface modifications can change, which can have a positive effect on the drag coefficient , the flow separation and wake. They are considered a form of passive boundary layer control – as opposed to active boundary layer control, they do not require external energy input, which is a significant advantage. Thanks to current technologies, such as 3D printing, it is possible to create various shapes of these surface structures. In this thesis, the geometry is designed for the NACA 2412 profile based on variants that have already been experimentally or numerically verified and is subsequently subjected to detailed CFD analysis.
