This thesis introduces a novel approach for detecting digital addiction using electroencephalography (EEG) and deep learning. The study leverages resting-state EEG data from the LEMON dataset, preprocessed and associated with Internet Addiction Test (IAT) scores. An advanced deep learning architecture is presented, combining parallel temporal and frequency-domain feature extractors with multi-scale convolutional modules, attention-based fusion, and hierarchical transformer blocks. The model is trained using a custom loss function to mitigate class imbalance and prevent model collapse. Results on an unseen test set demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach, achieving an accuracy of 86.38%, recall of 90.03%, precision of 75.47%, specificity of 84.44%, and a composite score of 0.8369. The work highlights the potential of EEG for the non-invasive assessment of digital addiction and discusses limitations and future research directions.
