This bachelor thesis focuses on Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) as a modern approach for solving differential equations used in solid mechanics. The aim of the work was to understand the fundamental principles of PINNs, evaluate their advantages and limitations compared to classical numerical methods, and practically test their applicability on selected problems. Three representative examples were implemented – a damped harmonic oscillator, beam deflection based on the Bernoulli equation, and the stress field in a plate with a cut-out – with results compared against analytical or FEM solutions. The findings show that PINNs can reconstruct solutions with reasonable accuracy even with minimal data, but their performance strongly depends on the proper formulation of the loss function, training strategy, and the nature of the problem.
