Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem městského obytného bloku v centru Brna, v lokalitě mezi ulicemi Štefánikova a Staňkova. Projekt se snaží odpovědět na otázku, jak může současná bytová výstavba přispět k tvorbě soudobého města, které je funkční, udržitelné a přívětivé pro své obyvatele. Návrh staví na principech blokové zástavby a doplňuje městskou strukturu v návaznosti na historický urbanismus i současné potřeby. Důraz je kladen na práci s poloveřejným a veřejným prostorem, s aktivním parterem orientovaným do vnitroblokového náměstí, a s propojením bydlení a života v komunitě. Součástí návrhu jsou pobytové pavlače, sdílené dvory a architektonické detaily, které vytvářejí identitu místa. Materiálové a konstrukční řešení zohledňuje udržitelnost, provozní logiku i architektonický výraz. Projekt reflektuje aktuální společenské výzvy – dostupné bydlení, potřebu kvalitního veřejného prostoru a vytváření prostředí pro sousedské vztahy. Práce kombinuje urbanistický a architektonický přístup s důrazem na detail, atmosféru a každodennost – a hledá odpověď na to, jak může vypadat soudobý dům ve městě, ve kterém chceme žít. This diploma thesis presents a design for a residential urban block in the center of Brno, located between Štefánikova and Staňkova streets. The project aims to explore how contemporary housing development can contribute to the creation of a modern city that is functional, sustainable, and welcoming to its inhabitants. The design is based on the principles of perimeter block development, enhancing the existing urban structure while responding to both historical context and current needs. Emphasis is placed on the integration of public and semi-public spaces, including an active ground floor opening into a courtyard square and the blending of residential living with community life. The proposal includes accessible walkways, shared courtyards, and architectural detailing that supports a strong local identity. The material and structural solutions reflect a focus on sustainability, functional clarity, and architectural expression. The project addresses current societal challenges such as the demand for affordable housing, the need for high-quality public space, and the creation of environments that foster neighborly relations. The work combines an urban and architectural approach with attention to detail, atmosphere, and everyday life—seeking an answer to the question of what a contemporary dwelling can be in the kind of city we want to live in.
