Abstract: This master's thesis focuses on the identification of sources of resistance to root rot caused by the pathogen Aphanomyces euteiches in a collection of Vicia sativa species. The study aims to evaluate the phenotypic and genetic characteristics of selected Vicia sativa cultivars and their ability to resist this pathogenic fungus. Two successive experiments were conducted under controlled conditions, where plants were inoculated with different concentrations of Aphanomyces euteiches zoospores. Foliar and root symptoms were monitored using standardized scales, and potential genetic resistance to this pathogen was assessed. This research will provide valuable insights for breeding Vicia sativa cultivars with enhanced resistance to root rot.
