Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá historickým vývojem města Aš, které je situováno v nejzápadnější části České republiky a svým charakterem představuje významnou příhraniční oblast. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy související s pohraničím, jako je státní hranice či Sudety, a rovněž jsou popsány vybrané typy historických staveb (radnice, náměstí, kostel, most). Praktická část je zaměřena na vyhodnocení statistických dat, zejména vývoje počtu obyvatel a počtu domů od 19. století do současnosti, přičemž důraz je kladen na poválečné období, a hlavně odsun německého obyvatelstva. Dalším zdrojem informací jsou řízené rozhovory, které reflektují znalost místní historie napříč různými generacemi a nabízejí subjektivní pohled obyvatel na proměnu města v průběhu let. Dotazovaní ukazují, že Aš i přes výrazné demografické a urbanistické změny nadále uchovává svou specifickou identitu příhraničního regionu. This bachelor's thesis deals with the historical development of the town of Aš, which is located in the westernmost part of the Czech Republic and represents a significant border region due to its character. The theoretical section defines key concepts related to the borderlands, such as state borders and the Sudetenland, and also describes selected types of historical buildings (town hall, square, church, bridge). The practical part focuses on the evaluation of statistical data, particularly the develop-ment of population numbers and the number of houses from the 19th century to the pre-sent day, with an emphasis on the post-war period and especially the expulsion of the German population. Another source of information is structured interviews, which reflect knowledge of local history across different generations and provide a subjective view of residents on the transformation of the town over the years. The findings show that despite significant demographic and urban changes, Aš continues to preserve its specific identity as a border region.
