V projektu Skleník zpracovávám téma skleníků ze zavařovacích sklenic. Ty jsou unikátním fenoménem československého kutilství a představují důležitou součást vernakulární architektury našich vesnic. Toto téma jsem zpracovala v osobní i obecnější rovině – v té osobní skrze objekt Skleník, vyrobený ze sklenic, interpretuji svůj pohled na vztah člověka a přírody, a v té obecnější seznamuji diváka s významným fenoménem kutilství a jeho přínosem pro naši kulturu. Tyto dva směry, kterými jsem se vydala, vycházejí z jediného impulzu a jejich odlišnost nabízí multidisciplinární pohled na toto téma. Impulsem k zahájení projektu Skleník se stalo náhodné nalezení přibližně jednoho tisíce zavařovacích sklenic, nabízených na internetovém bazaru za odvoz, jejichž původní účel spočíval ve stavbě skleníku. Vědomí, že jim hrozí zánik na skládce, mě motivovalo k jejich záchraně a následnému citlivému přetvoření s respektem k jejich původnímu účelu i historickému kontextu. In the Glasshouse project, I explore the theme of glasshouses made from jars. These structures are a unique phenomenon of Czechoslovak kutilství—a distinct form of hands-on ingenuity and self-made construction that differs from the more commercialized Western concept of DIY—and represent an important part of the vernacular architecture of our villages. I approach this topic on both a personal and a broader level. On the personal level, through the object Glasshouse made of jars, I interpret my perspective on the relationship between humans and nature. On the broader level, I introduce the viewer to the significant cultural phenomenon of kutilství and its importance to our heritage. These two directions stem from a single impulse, and their contrast offers a multidisciplinary perspective on the theme. The impulse for starting the Glasshouse project came from the chance discovery of approximately one thousand jars offered online for free, originally intended for the construction of a glasshouse. The realization that they were at risk of ending up in a landfill motivated me to rescue them and transform them sensitively, with respect for their original purpose and historical context.
