Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou ošetřovatelské péče o dutinu ústní u seniorů hospitalizovaných na odděleních následné péče. Cílem práce bylo analyzovat a zhodnotit úroveň dentální hygieny hospitalizovaných seniorů, posoudit jejich schopnost sebepéče v oblasti ústní hygieny a identifikovat možné nedostatky v poskytované ošetřovatelské péči. V rámci výzkumu jsme si položili tři klíčové výzkumné otázky: Jak je realizována hygiena dutiny ústní u hospitalizovaných seniorů? Jsou senioři na odděleních následné péče schopni sebepéče v oblasti hygieny dutiny ústní? Jaký je stav dutiny ústní u hospitalizovaných seniorů? Výzkumné šetření bylo realizováno kvalitativní metodologií využívající polostrukturované rozhovory se seniory, skryté zúčastněné pozorování práce sester a měřicí škálu zaměřenou na hodnocení stavu orálního zdraví. Výsledky ukázaly, že úroveň soběstačnosti seniorů významně ovlivňuje kvalitu péče o dutinu ústní. Soběstační pacienti vykazovali lepší dentální hygienu a vyšší povědomí o důsledcích jejího zanedbávání, zatímco nesoběstační pacienti byli zcela odkázáni na asistenci zdravotnického personálu, jehož přístup k péči se lišil v závislosti na individuálních zkušenostech a časových možnostech sester. Mezi nejčastější nedostatky patřila nedostatečná vizuální kontrola dutiny ústní, nevhodná volba dentálních pomůcek, povrchní provedení hygieny a omezená komunikace mezi personálem a pacienty. Výzkum rovněž poukázal na častý výskyt xerostomie, dehydratace a nedostatečné péče o zubní náhrady, což negativně ovlivňovalo celkový stav ústní dutiny seniorů. Výsledky práce mají praktické využití v oblasti zkvalitnění ošetřovatelské péče. Na základě zjištění doporučujeme zavedení standardizovaných postupů pro dentální hygienu seniorů, pravidelné školení zdravotnického personálu a implementaci hodnoticích škál pro systematické sledování orálního zdraví hospitalizovaných pacientů. Pro další výzkum by bylo přínosné provést obdobné šetření v širším spektru zdravotnických zařízení a zahrnout kvantitativní analýzu účinnosti různých dentálních pomůcek a edukačních intervencí zaměřených na zdravotnický personál i pacienty. This bachelor's thesis examines the issue of nursing care for oral hygiene in hospitalized seniors in long-term care units. The aim of the study was to analyze and evaluate the level of dental hygiene among hospitalized seniors, assess their ability to perform self-care in oral hygiene, and identify potential deficiencies in the provided nursing care. In the research, we formulated three key research questions: How is oral hygiene implemented in hospitalized seniors? Are seniors in long-term care units capable of self-care in oral hygiene? What is the condition of the oral cavity in hospitalized seniors? The research was conducted using a qualitative methodology, including semi-structured interviews with seniors, covert participant observation of nurses, and a measurement scale focused on oral health status. The results showed that the level of self-sufficiency among seniors significantly influences the quality of oral care. Independent patients demonstrated better dental hygiene and a higher awareness of the consequences of neglecting it, whereas non-self-sufficient seniors were entirely dependent on the assistance of healthcare personnel, whose approach to oral care varied based on individual experience and time constraints. The most common deficiencies identified were insufficient visual inspection of the oral cavity, inappropriate selection of dental care tools, superficial execution of hygiene procedures, and limited communication between staff and patients. Furthermore, the research highlighted frequent occurrences of xerostomia, dehydration, and inadequate care for dental prostheses, all of which negatively impacted the overall oral health of seniors. The findings of this study have practical applications for improving nursing care. Based on the results, we recommend the implementation of standardized procedures for senior dental hygiene, regular training of healthcare personnel, and the integration of assessment scales for systematically monitoring oral health in hospitalized patients. For further research, it would be beneficial to conduct a similar study across a broader range of healthcare facilities and include a quantitative analysis of the effectiveness of various dental care tools and educational interventions targeting both healthcare personnel and patients.
