Anomalous Extensive Air Showers and Hadronic Interactions Jiří Blažek February 17, 2025 Supervisor: Petr Trávníček, Ph.D. Consultants: Michael Prouza, Ph.D.; doc. Dalibor Nosek, Dr. Study Programme: Physics StudyBranch: Particle and Nuclear Physics Abstract This thesis presents the study of three topics, related by the anoma- lousness of specific shower properties in the context of the Pierre Auger Observatory. The first topic establishes the muon puzzle - a tension be- tween the predicted and observed number of muons-and presents a new framework for exploring a possible direction of modifications to hadronic interaction models based on extensive three-dimensional Monte Carlo sim- ulations. The generated modification space is then confronted with data- derived parameters. The second topic presents a study of showers possess- ing an anomalous longitudinal profile, discusses means to disentangle the atmospheric background with the robotic telescope FRAM and explores detailed detector simulations while maximizing the signal/noise ratio. The third topic, in light of the recent ANITA measurements, presents a study of upward-going showers with angles larger than θ = 110◦ . A single event is found, consistent with the expected background of 0.27 ± 0.12, creating a tension with the ANITA result. Key words:... První téma popisuje muonový problém - nesoulad mezi předpovězeným a po- zorovaným počtem mionů - a představuje nový rámec pro zkoumání možného směru modifikací hadronových interakčních modelů, založený na rozsáhlých trojrozměrných simulacích metodou Monte Carlo. Generovaný prostor modifikací je následně porovnán s parametry odvozenými z dat. Druhé téma představuje studii spršek s anomálním podélným profilem, diskutuje prostředky k separaci atmosférického pozadí pomocí robotického dalekohledu FRAM a zkoumá podrobné simulace detektoru při maximalizaci poměru signál/šum. Třetí téma, s ohledem na nedávná měření experimentu ANITA, představuje studii nahoru-jdoucích spršek s úhly většími než θ = 110◦ . Byla nalezena jediná událost, odpovídající očekávanému pozadí 0.27 ± 0.12, což vytváří nekonzistenci s výsledkem...
