Abstract: This work provides readers with the introduction into the problem of financial stability, such as its necessity for sound economic development, possible ways of definitions - as no generally accepted definition exist - and the essential aspects of proper definitions. The core of this work is focused on monetary institutions? approaches to financial stability ? definition, assessment and maintaining. On one hand, work describes the activities and main publications of international institutions (IMF, WB, BIS and ECB) linked with financial stability. On the other hand, the last chapter provides a depiction of CNB?s approach toward financial stability issue, especially publishing financial stability reports.
