Cílem bakalářská práce bylo vypracovat literární rešerši zaměřenou na aktuální trendy ve šlechtění a plemenářské práci v oblasti chovu skotu bez tržní produkce mléka se zaměřením na plemeno charolais. V práci je popsána historie a vývoj plemene, jeho chov v České republice, včetně uvedení aktuálních i dříve používaných býků, kteří výrazně ovlivnili populaci. Pozornost je věnována také významným zahraničním populacím – francouzskému a americkému rázu plemene charolais. Dále je v práci popsána činnost Českého svazu chovatelů masného skotu, je zde definován plemenný standard, chovný cíl. Dále jsou popsány principy kontroly užitkovosti, odhadu plemenné hodnoty a vedení plemenné knihy. Součástí je porovnání výše uvedených principů se zemí původu plemene charolais – Francií a se zemí odlišného systému chovu tohoto plemene – USA. Součástí bakalářské práce je zhodnocení úrovně reprodukce, možnosti mezinárodního hodnocení masných plemen prostřednictvím aplikace Interbeef. The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to conduct a literature review dealing with the current trends in the selection and breeding of livestock within the system of cattle farming without market milk production. The whole work focuses on the Charolais breed. The history and development of this breed, its farming in the Czech Republic including current and former bulls which highly influenced the beef population are described in this paper. A particular attention is given to the important foreign cattle populations, namely the French and American type of the Charolais breed. The paper also illustrates the work of the Czech Beef Breeders Association. Furthermore, the text defines the breeding standards and breeding objectives. Additionally, the principles of efficiency testing, the breeding values and keeping a herd-book are presented here. The aforementioned principles are compared with France, the country of origin of the Charolais breed, and the USA, a country with different system of breeding this particular type of cattle. This thesis includes the evaluation of level of reproduction and the possibilities of international evaluation of meat-breed using the application called Interbeef.
