cze Abstract:
[cze][eng] Rod Freesia Eckl. Genus Freesia Eckl. Klatt et. includes 16 species that are bred and evolved continuously. Today's modern species mostly come from South African species such as Freesia alba (G. L. Mey.) Gumbl, Freesia corymbosa (Burm.f.) N. E. Br., Freesia leichtlinii Klatt a Freesia refracta (Jacq.) Klatt. Nowadays are these cultivars called Freesia-hybrid. The work contains morphological and anatomical description, classification of the most important species, geological spread, history of growing and breeding. The literary research is also focus on cultivation technologies, propagation, pests and diseases. Fressia is included among the main species of cut flowers and is grown almost exclusively in Central and Western Europe in greenhouses. The biggest harvest of cut flowers is from January to May, but thanks to modern technologies are the flowers available yearly.
