Abstract: This diploma thesis deals with the use of "natural" and "semi-natural vegetation" as an inspiration in garden and landscape architecture in history and present. It deals with the relationship of culture, nature, landscapes and gardens, both in historical development and contemporary conception. The thesis describes plant properties and relations in the community, deals with geobiocenological, biogeographic and phytogeographical sources of knowledge about vegetation in the Czech Republic and presents selected inspirative communities which were taken as an inspiration for designing in park in Šilheřovice.
