eng Abstract:
[eng][cze] Nigeria is a developing country located in the western coast of Africa and is known for its biggest economy in the continent. The country is blessed with natural resources and an enormous land area with agricultural potential. Nevertheless, the country emphases primarily on the crude oil and neglects agriculture which appears to be the root of the increasing socio-economic problems in the country. The thesis evaluates the level of food security in Nigeria through the four pillars of food security (availability, accessibility, utilization and stability) with focus on SDGs 1 and SDG 2. The results show high level of food insecurity which is suppressed by political instability, poverty and climate change. Such barriers prevent the population from living an active and healthy life. Desperate people are therefore looking for an alternative and will easily become part of rebel groups that worsen food security. The thesis also shows a growing number of malnourished people, an increasing rate of population growth, insufficient funding for agriculture and poor infrastructure.Nigeria is a developing country located in the western coast of Africa and is known for its biggest economy in the continent.
