Cílem práce je zmapovat příznačné motivy nám vybraných děl reprezentujících tři tvůrčí období Egona Hostovského, vytvořit soupis motivů a jejich proměn v těchto etapách a motivy kategorizovat. Motivy budou kategorizovány na základě prožitků literárních postav vyvolaných psychickými a sociálními změnami ve vnitřním a vnějším světě hrdinů. Do kategorizace bude promítnuta i jejich mimoliterární spojitost s politickým děním v Československu od 30. let po 70. léta 20. stol., potažmo s reálným životem Egona Hostovského. K zmapování motivů budou z každého tvůrčího období vybrány tři tituly. První období ovlivněno existencialismem a post- avantgardou (1931-1941). Druhé období ovlivněno autorovou první emigrací do Spojených států amerických a mezitím i pokusem o opětovné navrácení do Československa (1941-1948), A třetí období je charakteristické další emigrací a postupným odcizením od českých národních a sociálních hodnot (1950-1973). Klíčová slova Egon Hostovský, tvůrčí období, metamorfóza, konstanta, motiv The aim of this thesis is to is to map the characteristic motifs of the selected works representing the three creative periods of Egon Hostovský and to create a list of motifs and their transformations in these stages and categorize them. Motifs will be categorized based on the experiences of literary characters caused by psychological and social changes in the inner and outer world of the heroes and on their non-literary connection with the political events in Czechoslovakia from the 1930s to the 1970s. The motifs will eventually be connected to the real life of Egon Hostovsky. There will be selected three titles from each creative period to map the characteristic motifs. First period influenced by existentialism and post-avant-garde (1931- 1941). The second period was influenced by the author's first emigration to the United States of America and, in the meantime, an attempt to return to Czechoslovakia (1941-1948). And the third period is characterized by further emigration and gradual alienation from Czech national and social values (1950-1973).
