Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce bylo popisování prozodického frázování v žánru televizní debaty v rámci srovnávání češtiny s americkou angličtinou. Snahou bylo nalézt shody a rozdíly mezi oběma jazyky/kulturami v oblasti frázování a zjistit, zda interindividuální, případně intraindividuální rozdíly nejsou větší než rozdíly mezi situací v češtině a americké angličtině. Byly analyzovány čtyři různé sady nahrávek z televizních politických debat (Nedělní partie a Arizona Horizon's), dvě české a dvě anglické s celkovým počtem 14 mluvčích, přičemž dva z nich, moderátoři, se opakovali v týchž debatách, takže finální počet mluvčích činil 12. Data pro analýzu byla poskytnuta z Fonetického ústavu Filozofické fakulty Univerzity Karlovy v rámci COCOSDA principu. U jednotlivých mluvčích byl analyzován počet slov, slabik a hlásek na jeden promluvový úsek. K extrakci výsledných dat byla využita skripta z fonetického softwaru Praat. Byly zároveň zkoumány nejkratší a nejdelší fráze ve snaze přijít na to, jestli jsou tyto jevy nějakým způsobem zobecnitelné v tomto žánru konverzační mluvy. Výsledky tohoto výzkumu ukazují, že i když se mluvčí liší v rámci jazykových skupin, osobnost některých jednotlivců a prostředí, ve kterém probíhá debata, jsou v tomto případě ještě relevantnější. The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to describe prosodic phrasing in the TV debate genre in the context of comparing Czech with American English. The aim was to find similarities and differences between the two languages/cultures in the area of phrasing and to see if inter- individual or intra-individual differences are greater than the differences between the situation in Czech and American English. 4 different sets of recordings of televised political debates (Nedělní partie and Arizona Horizon's), 2 Czech and 2 English, were analyzed, with a total of 14 speakers, two of whom, the moderators, were repeated in the same debate, bringing the total number of speakers to 12. The data for the analysis were provided by the Phonetic Institute of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University under the COCOSDA principle. For each speaker, the number of words, syllables and vowels per phonemic clause was analysed. To extract the resulting data, I used scripts from the phonetic software Praat. The shortest and longest phrases were also examined in an attempt to figure out if these phenomena are somehow generalizable in this genre of conversational speech.
