[cze][eng] Bakalářská práce se zabývá procesem americko-sovětského odzbrojování během 70. let s primárním zaměřením na pohled z americké strany, přičemž hlavní důraz je dán na období administrativy prezidenta Cartera. Práce zkoumá proces odzbrojování od jeho začátku, tj. za administrativy Richarda Nixona, kdy došlo k podepsání klíčové smlouvy SALT I (1972), pokračuje obdobím prezidenta Geralda Forda, za něhož vešla v platnost Vladivostocká dohoda (1974), až po Jimmyho Cartera, kdy došlo k podpisu SALT II (1979) a jeho neúspěšné ratifikaci v americkém Senátu. V kapitolách jsou kromě průběhu jednání rozebírány i hlavní oblasti, které byly pro vyjednávání zásadní, a také přístupy jednotlivých administrativ k vztahům se Sovětským svazem.The thesis is focused on the process of US-Soviet disarmament during 70s and especially on the end of the decade. The work is based on the American point of view of the disarmament and it examines the period from the administration of Richard Nixon, when was signed the most important treaty of the beginning of the 70s - SALT I (1972), through administration of Gerald Ford, when Vladivostok accord (1974) came into force, and the final part of the thesis concentrates on the period of Jimmy Carter during which SALT II was signed but it didn't pass the U.S. Senate. In particular chapters are analyzed main issues which were important for the disarmament and also changing of American approach towards relationship with the Soviet Union.
