Abstract: Two methods for the degradation of PBDEs were evaluated in this study. The chemical NZVI (nano zerovalent iron) degradation yielded very good results. The best results, however, were achieved by electrochemical degradation. A new electrochemical method that had not been previously reported in the literature was developed. The method employs an electrochemical microreactor. The original experimental results confirm the significantly higher efficiency and degradation rate of PBDEs when using an electrochemical microreactor.
