Tato práce se zabývá predikáty s kategoriálním slovesem v anglickém a italském jazyce. Nejprve se věnuje hlavním přístupům napříč lingvistickým tradicím těchto dvou jazyků, a dále podává ucelený přehled formálních vlastností tohoto druhu predikace s ohledem na podobnosti a odlišnosti zkoumaných jazyků. Hlavím cílem této práce je popsat konstrukce s kategoriálním slovesem především z hlediska jejich motivace a poskytnout v tomto ohledu kontrastivní pohled na anglický a italský jazyk. Teoretická část předkládá výčet a podrobný popis jednotlivých motivací vedoucích k užití těchto konstrukcí v angličtině, pro kterou je toto téma podloženo již mnohými zrdoji a studiemi. V praktické části se tato práce zybývá zkoumáním popsaných druhů motivace v italském jazyce. Hlavní část analýzy probíha na základě vícejazyčného paralelního korpusu InterCorp. Poslední kapitola této práce poskytuje kontrastivní pohled na motivace užití konstrukcí s kategoriálním slovesem v angličtině a italštině. Za tímto účelem dochází k porovnání motivací v anglickém jazyce s výsledky analýzy, která mapuje motivace v rámci jazykaitalského. The present MA thesis is concerned with light verb constructions in English and Italian. Initially, this thesis presents an overview of the different approaches in the linguistic traditions of the two languages. This section is followed by a theoretical survey of the formal features of this type of contruction, with particular emphasis on the similarities and differences between the two languages. The aim of thesis is to describe the motivations that lead to the use of light verb constructions and provide a contrastive view on those motivations in English and Italian respectively. To conclude the theoretical section, the thesis offers a detailed description of the motivations of this type of construction in English, based on the numerous sources available concerning this topic. The analytical part of the thesis than examines those types of motivation with repect to Italian. The main analysis is based on the multilingual parallel corpus InterCorp. The last chapter provides a contrastive view of the motivation of light verb construction in English and Italian. To this purpose, it compares the motivations in English with the findings of the analytical part concerning the motivations in Italian.
