Práce je zaměřená na vymezení druhů obcí v systému veřejné správy České republiky, a to podle různých kritérií, které jednotlivé obce rozlišují. Práce obce rozlišuje podle jejich rozdílů v rámci samostatné působnosti obcí, kde je lze dělit podle jejich označení, tedy podle jejich ,,statutu", dále podle orgánů, které obec zřizuje, či naopak nezřizuje. Další rozdíly práce hledá v rámci přenesené působnosti obcí, kde je možné jednotlivé obce rozlišovat podle toho, v jakém rozsahu jsou pověřeny výkonem přenesené působnosti. Práce se podrobně věnuje statutárním městům a jejich odlišnostem od jiných obcí, ale i odlišnostem mezi jednotlivými statutárními městy. Za pozornost stojí i postavení městských části, či městských obvodů, územně členěných statutárních měst. Pro nastínění původu jednotlivých druhů obcí se práce z počátku věnuje i vývoji obecního zřízení na území dnešní České republiky, a to se zaměřením na jednotlivé druhy obcí. Práce se nevyhnula ani krátkému porovnání obcí a krajů. Část práce se věnuje hlavnímu městu Praze, které je subjektem svého druhu, jež obsahuje jak prvky územního samosprávného celku, tak vyššího územního samosprávného celku, a je vyčleněno z působnosti jak obecního, tak i krajského zřízení, a řídí se vlastním zákonem. Práce neopomíjí ani postavení městských částí hlavního... This thesis is focused on defining the types of municipalities in the public administration system of the Czech Republic, according to various criteria that distinguish the various municipalities. This thesis distinguishes the municipalities according to their differences within the independent competence of municipalities, where it can be classified according to their designation, also according to their authorities, the municipality establishes, or, conversely, not established. Other differences the thesis searches within the delegated powers of municipalities where it is possible to distinguish the individual municipalities, depending on the extent to which they are entrusted with delegated powers. This thesis closely examines the statutory cities and their differences from other municipalities, as well as differences between the chartered cities. The individual districts of geographically divided statutory cities cannot be omitted as well. The thesis also try to outline the origins of different types of municipalities from the beginning also developing a municipal system on the territory of today's Czech Republic, focusing on different types of municipalities.
